Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany and Houck, Pat Houck.

Tiffany, Pat, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started in a small kiosk in Sugar Land town center, our vision was a small shop that people could grab bouquets of seasonal flowers to enjoy. The response from our community was outstanding. We quickly grew to the second location because we had more request for events, weddings, and other services. Now we are located in a full service retail floral design studio offering a wide variety of services.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path that leads us to where we are today has had its challenges. First competing with online-only retailers that are do not have brick and mortar stores. We faced this by educating our clients on the art of flowers and by delivering one of a kind design which created a unique floral experience for them and the recipient. The second main challenge we faced was the size of our studio, we overcame this by developing a plan so we could expand at a pace that fits with our vision. We would advise young women to stay true to what their vision is. Developing a business plan for entrepreneurs is essential, make to revisit it often to keep you on track for your goals. It is often you will receive a lot of advice that may not line up with your ultimate goal, stay focused and true to yourself.

what should we know about The House of Blooms? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a full-service retail floral design studio. Our clients come to us for the occasion during every stage of life, from new births to graduations and weddings we provide a service for all. We specialize in weddings and events all across Texas. What sets us apart from our competition is the level of service we provide to our clients, we are dedicated to making the process easy and an enjoyable experience, It is not unusual to have clients come in with a specific vision and wait and watch as our designers create their unique arrangement. In addition to clients that order over the phone, in person, or online we send them a photo of the actual arrangement we are sending on their behalf. This program has received such great feedback and has been great at obtaining new clients and reaffirms the level of service our established clients already know.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Networking and building relationships in our community have been invaluable to our growth. Pat and Tiffany are both apart of numerous organizations that not only bring business to The House Of Blooms but allows them to reach out to others as our business needs change. Building bonds and strengthening others has been rewarding on so many levels, it is beautiful to see how a community grows and develops when everyone is working together.
